Bury drew 2-2 today against local rivals Ramsbottom United defender Cam Fogerty spoke to the club to give us his thoughts on the game.
Cam Fogerty: “It was a good game. For me, it felt like there was only really one team in it. I think they only had a handful of shots. Really good goals by the way, the second goal of theirs was really good. Great pass, great touch, great finish. But the second half, I don’t think they really got out of their half. I think they had one shot over there. Nothing much of it, but yeah, it was a good Boxing Day game. You look at the game overall, it had everything in terms of what the fans would have been looking for.”
He then spoke about the fans and whether today’s game went as he expected with him saying “Yes, both teams, there’s a lot of pressure on both teams. We’ve got pressure on us because of where we are in the league, but also the number of fans that came here today. I’ve never played in front of 6,000 fans. I’m sure a lot of their players haven’t. So that’s pressure in and of itself. Of course, we’re both at the top of the table. But it was a really good game, fast-paced. But again, I feel like we should have got more from it but credit to Rammy, they’re good at what they do. They know their strengths; they play to them. And we weren’t good enough today at keeping them out, especially in the first half. The second half was much better at limiting them. But yes, I think the fans will be impressed with the game today.”
To finish the interview, he looked ahead to this weekends clash with Prestwich, he said: “That’s it. But I think it’s Prestwich playing on Saturday. They play today and they play on Saturday as well. So, it’s the exact same for Prestwich. So we can’t look at that as an excuse. It’s the same for both teams. In fact, it’s even harder for them. They’ve had a day-left rest. So, yes, we’ve just got to keep it moving, keep it moving. And then in the turn of the year, it’ll go down to one game a week. If you exclude any potential postponements. But it should be much easier for us when we can train twice a week, every week. And, you know, we can manage the workload but, yes, we’ve just got to keep it moving and look to Saturday for three points.”
