Bury won 3-2 today in an intense match against Lower Breck thanks to a first half hat trick from DJ Pedro when speaking to the club he gave us his thoughts on the game.
DJ Pedro: “Yes, it could have actually. I thought in spells we switched off a bit sometimes, but then overall we got three points in the end. They scored two sloppy goals we shouldn’t have conceded. We know that we talked about that. But attacking-wise, we were a threat constantly and could have got more, but we know we’re in the right places at the right time, so that’s all that matters for now.”
He then spoke about whether in situations where they do go behind its important to stick to the game plan with him saying “Definitely. We knew it was going to be a hard game today, especially from playing them last time, it was a tough game. We’ve had talks, we’ve had meetings in training. We’re in two times a week now, so the managers and the coaches have got more time with us to go through things. We’re just implementing them with the new shape we’re playing as well, especially with two at the top, we’re implementing the new things that we’re learning and it’s working.”
DJ then spoke about what it was like to play with Reuben Jerome in a front two, he said: “It’s good, it’s good. Two big lads. I’m pretty sure it’s a nightmare for a couple of defenders, I’m pretty sure it is.” Adding onto this when speaking about the first goal he said “Yes, the first goal was from Ty [Tyler James] actually. TJ played the ball across to me and I just saw it and it came on my left foot. I thought just hit it on the volley, I did, and it went in.”
DJ then spoke about his favourite goal from his hat trick today with him saying “The pen, the pen. I liked the pen. The pressure was around, they were talking a lot, weren’t they? I had a lot of people in my ears. You just bury it at the end of the day, don’t you?” He then added onto this by speaking about what it was like taking the pen “It’s what I play for, really. I strive for those types of situations, pressured situations. You love them as a striker, don’t you? And when you put them in, it feels even better.”
To finish the interview, he then looked ahead to next Saturday’s game against Stockport Town, he said: “Yes, we’re in on Tuesday. All lads will be in early, we’ll go for it. The intensity has been high in training as well, which has been really good. You can see a lot of lads, especially with the number of games we’ve got left, everyone knows, and people are fighting for their places, aren’t they? So, it’ll be good.”
