Following Bury’s 2-1 win over Stockport Town midfielder Cam Fogerty spoke to the club to give us his thoughts on the game.
Cam Fogerty: “In all honesty, I thought we were quite comfortable, to be fair. The pitch wasn’t great, it was bobbling up, so we couldn’t really get our foot hold in the game and play how we’d normally play at home maybe, but I think we did at times. I mean, we’d have to look at the stats, but I think they had a lot more possession than us, but again, it was just round the back. We were comfortable and they had a few chances, they scored from one of them, but I think overall it was a comfortable game, and we deserve to win.”
He then spoke about what it’s like to play in midfield consistently with Bobby Carroll with him saying “Yes, he’s mustard. He’s a great player; I enjoy playing with him. I feel like we match each other’s traits quite well. I get forward a lot more than Bobby and he just dictates play a lot more, likes to get it off the defence more than me, so we complement each other quite well and it’s showing, I think, in the games. To be honest, in the past few at Lower Breck, we were terrible on the ball in possession, and we know that, but out of possession at Barnoldswick, Lower Breck and today, I think we’ve looked comfortable, we’ve looked strong and we’re only going to get stronger as we start to learn to play in this new formation that we’ve now adopted.”
Cam then spoke about the new faces in the squad Louis Jeanne, Tyler James, and Aiden Walker he said: “Yes, they’re good lads and they’ve got a point to prove, haven’t they? When I first came to the club, I had a point to prove, so I’m chasing every ball down and I’m putting in 110 percent and they’ll be doing the same. Last 12 games now, is it? So, I’m sure they’ll be able to help us get over the line and help us achieve our goal at the end of the season.”
To finish the interview, he then looked ahead to the game against Isle Of Man on Tuesday, he said: “Yes, I don’t think we’ve had a Tuesday game in a while now, to be fair. So, I wonder the lights at Gigg Lane. Hopefully, we get the win again. I’m sure we will. We’re only going to get more momentum now, moving forward, like I said. As we begin to gel in this new formation, it’s going to show in the coming weeks. I’m confident we’ll get the win on Tuesday night.”
