Bury won 3-2 on a cold Tuesday night against FC Isle Of Man, Bury striker DJ Pedro spoke to the club to give us his thoughts after the game.
DJ Pedro: “Well we didn’t make it easy for ourselves, definitely, and we can admit we didn’t play particularly too well, but they’re the games where if you want to win a league you grind it out and we grinded out, we got three points in the end, so me and the lads were static really we’re happy”
He then spoke about how important it is to keep winning at this part of the season, with him saying” ell definitely we’ve got like 10 plus games left and we know we knew today about how if we won this game we were four points ahead, four points clear and we knew how important it was and we knew with the last game as well, Stockport, we knew how important that game was and it’s the momentum really isn’t it, we want to keep that momentum and especially this time of the season with the title race with teams behind us like Lower Breck, Ramsbottom, we know we need to just keep getting them wins, keep grinding out wins like we did today that sometimes I see today is the most important wins really and you know yeah.”
DJ then spoke about him reaching 21 goals for the season, he said: “Yeah I didn’t particularly have a good game, great game, I knew that, I tried to make something out of it and I just knew when Bri [Ly] had that corner we had to create something when you know I saw the ball and body just went out of instinct, my body went and got my head on the end of it and I fell over, didn’t know if it went in or not and I just heard a bunch of screams and yeah the happiness just and the adrenaline just filled me up and yeah it was brilliant.”
He then added onto this when speaking about the importance of scoring from set pieces, with him saying: “I feel like in every league from the highest league to the lowest league I feel like set pieces are imperative, you need to score goals from them, you need to defend them as well and we showed that tonight with we scored from two set pieces didn’t we? It was at two and yeah and they had a lot of free kicks, corners and we had to defend them right, we keep our structure with me getting in, the other lads getting in, keeping a high line and scoring free kicks and scoring free kicks from and corners from any position really is just important, isn’t it?”
To finish the interview he then looked ahead to this weekend game against Prestwich Heys with him saying “It’s going to be a difficult game, we played them at home not too long ago didn’t we and you know we’re going to work on it this week with Thursday training and we’re going to prepare right and just listen to the information that the gaffer and the coaches give us.”
